What’s this?

What’s this blog about you might wonder. Well, it’s about travelling and stories: experiences, tips, fictional stories and actual memories.

I should share my definition of travel with you. Travelling (according to Christina) verb: Going on a holiday to relax or party, visiting family, celebrating, taking a journey to a yet unknown place or a very familiar one. Going somewhere to learn a new language, pottery or painting, take millions of pictures, find out something about yourself or God. Intentions of travelling vary. Some people travel to brag about the places they’ve seen, others travel to get away from people who like to brag. For some it can be a bit of everything and others never actually leave home even when they’re away.

Travels don’t have to be comfortable. Sometimes they’re stressful and leave you exhausted, jet lagged, sore and broke. Sometimes you end up with unexpected experiences: pleasant and unpleasant.  Sometimes you see, touch, hear, taste or smell something and whatever it is that crossed your path it will change a bit of you. Then, whoever you were when you set out on your journey won’t be exactly the same person that’s returning home.

I’ve started this blog to stay in touch with friends while being away. Well, that didn’t quite work out, because obviously a blog can’t replace a conversation over beer and chips with good friends, but it’s still better than nothing, right? I also realised how much I enjoy writing and how easily bored I was with only writing about the places I had been to. I thought wouldn’t it be fun to write a bit of fiction or dive into memories and write a bit of literary non-fiction then mix it up with travel tips?

So, this blog has evolved and is still evolving. It is becoming a mix of tales – some might call it obscure, but all have travelling at its core. Enjoy!

  2. Hey you 2,
thanks for your insights into parts of Australia I haven’t seen yet. Good to hear that you enjoy your life and that you have a wonderful summer – as opposed to Germany… ;-)
Keep the nice stories coming and I’ll have something to plan my next trip to Australia. Maybe I’ll manage to return next year.
